This Privacy Policy explains how ZR code collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you visit this website or work with us. ZR code is a sole proprietorship and an independent web development contractor based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. We handle personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for electronic marketing messages, Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). By using this website, sending us a message or ordering our services you confirm that you have read this policy.
This policy applies to personal information that we collect through the Site (including the contact form, email and phone) and in the course of providing the Services. It does not apply to the websites of third parties that the Site may link to, and it does not replace a separate written agreement with a Client where such an agreement deals with data protection.
ZR code is responsible for the personal information under our control. We have designated a person to answer privacy questions and to see that this policy is followed. You can reach that person at info@zr-code.com or by post at ZR code, 504-1500 Bathurst Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Meetings by appointment only. No walk-ins, please call or email first.
We collect only what we need, and we collect it by fair and lawful means, mostly directly from you:
We tell you the purposes when we collect the information, and we use it only for them:
If we want to use your information for a new purpose, we will ask for your consent first, unless the law allows or requires otherwise.
We collect, use and disclose personal information with your knowledge and consent. By sending the contact form or ordering the Services you consent to the processing described in this policy. Consent may be express (for example, ticking a box or writing to us) or implied, where it is reasonable to infer it from what you do and the information is not sensitive. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions, by writing to us at info@zr-code.com. We will explain what withdrawal means for you; it may limit our ability to provide the Services.
We do not sell personal information and do not use it for purposes you have not agreed to. We disclose it only to the extent described in this policy, with your consent, or when the law requires, for example in response to a lawful request of a court or authority.
We send a commercial electronic message only with your express or lawfully implied consent, as Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation requires. Every such message identifies us and includes a working way to unsubscribe, and we act on an unsubscribe request without delay and in any case within 10 business days. Replies to your own questions and messages about work you have already ordered are not marketing messages.
We share information only with providers that help us run the business, only to the extent needed and under their own privacy terms: hosting and email providers, Cloudflare (security and delivery of the Site), Google (reCAPTCHA spam protection, Google Maps on the contact page and, with your consent, Google Analytics), accounting and payment services. We ask these providers to protect the information to a standard comparable to ours. We remain responsible for information we pass to them for processing.
Some of our providers may store or process data outside Canada, for example in the United States or the European Union. While the information is in another country, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities. If you contact us from outside Canada, you understand that your information will be handled as described in this policy. You can ask us about our providers and where they keep data by writing to the address in section 3.
The Site uses a session cookie that is needed for it to work and a language cookie. Analytics and map cookies of third parties are used only after you give consent. You can refuse or withdraw consent at any time in your browser settings; the Site keeps working with only the necessary cookies, although some third-party features, such as the map, may then not be shown.
When information is no longer needed for the purposes above or required by law, we delete it or make it anonymous.
We protect personal information with safeguards that fit its sensitivity: encrypted connections (HTTPS), limited access, strong passwords and two-factor authentication where available, regular updates and backups. No method of transmission over the Internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and review our practices as the Services and the Site change.
If a breach of security safeguards involving personal information under our control creates a real risk of significant harm to an individual, we will report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and notify the affected individuals as soon as feasible after we determine that the breach occurred, as PIPEDA requires. We keep a record of every breach of security safeguards for 24 months.
We try to keep the information we hold accurate and up to date for the purposes for which we use it. Please tell us when your contact details or billing details change.
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, how we use it and to whom we have disclosed it. You can ask us to correct it, and to delete it when we no longer need it by law. We may need to confirm your identity first. We answer within 30 days. If we cannot give access to something, we will explain why, as far as the law lets us.
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, write to us first and we will look into it. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (www.priv.gc.ca).
The Site may link to websites and services of third parties, such as social networks and maps. They have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them. Please read their policies.
We may update this policy, for example when the law or our practices change. The current version is always published on this page with the date of the last update. If a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to let you know, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent again.
